What’s new in dspMixFx version 3.0

UR-C version 3.0 is a major update, specially designed for anyone who uses UR-C series audio interfaces for streaming. At the heart of the update is dspMixFx UR-C version 3.0, which adds new features to make UR-C interfaces more user-friendly and versatile. As well as a new multi-stream audio driver, there is a new dedicated streaming mix with exclusive effect slot, featuring new DSP-based effects like gate, compressor, ducker and multi-band-compressor. In addition, a voice changer plug-in and a delay have been added to the range of DSP-powered plug-ins for monitoring and recording, while improvements to the user interface have made dspMixFx more intuitive to use.

NEW FEATURES

Multi-stream audio driver

The multi-stream audio driver offers several advantages for audio production and playback. It enables simultaneous use of more than one audio software application through the UR-C interface. Facilitating advanced recording, mixing, and monitoring configurations, the multi-stream audio driver provides a dedicated audio channel for each audio application, such as Cubase, a music player and voice chat tools. For example, in the case of a remote lesson for Cubase, it allows voice chat without an echo while playing the loopback output from Cubase.
It optimizes system resources by efficiently managing multiple audio streams, reducing latency, and delivering synchronized playback through one interface, empowering users with expanded connectivity options and enhanced control over their audio workflow.

Dedicated streaming mix

dspMixFx now features a dedicated streaming mix with an exclusive effect slot. This slot features effects that can be assigned for streaming purposes only, such as gate, compressor, and ducker. The main output of the streaming mix also features its own multi-band compressor. This mix output is an additional output mix for UR22C, UR24C and UR44C. On the UR816C it can be selected instead of Mix 4

STREAMING MIX EFFECTS

Ducker

The ducker dynamically lowers the level of one audio signal based on the presence of another. Commonly used in broadcasting and music production, it automatically reduces the volume of one track when another track surpasses a set threshold, allowing the dominant signal to take precedence. For instance, it lowers background music when an announcer speaks, ensuring clear dialog. In music, it creates rhythmic effects by ducking the sound to synchronize with a beat or emphasize vocals over instruments, adding depth and clarity to the mix.

Usability improvements of dspMixFx

Version 3.0 makes dspMixFx more intuitive to operate, with improvements to the user interface. The level meter has been relocated to the fader level of the mixer view, allowing for a better overview, with no necessity to change modes for checking current levels. Channel names in dspMixFx can also now be renamed and stored to the scene memory.

NEW DSP-EFFECTS

Real-time Voice Changer

The voice changer can be used in a wide spectrum of ways for creative, entertainment and practical purposes. You can creatively, alter vocals in music production, enabling unique effects or for disguising singers, while it can add diversity to presentations or storytelling when used for voiceovers. For entertainment you can transform voices for characters in dubbing, animations, and games. It also allows you to enjoy virtual streaming free from the real world, like avatar streaming, or to achieve neutrality of gender and age in online gaming.

Delay

The delay effect repeats an audio signal, playing a chosen number of repeats back after a delay time set by the user. It's a versatile tool used to create depth, spaciousness, and unique sonic textures. In music, delays add ambiance, enriching vocals or instruments by producing echoes that can range from subtle reflections to pronounced repetitions. Beyond music, delay is used in audio post-production for spatial effects in movies or podcasts, enhancing soundscapes and providing an immersive experience by simulating distance or creating surreal, atmospheric qualities.

FURTHER DSP-EFFECTS

REV-X reverb

The REV-X built into UR-C interfaces is a complex reverb algorithm, renowned for its high-density, richly reverberant sound quality, with smooth attenuation, spread and depth that work together to enhance the original, dry sound. Featuring three types of reverb effect — Hall, Room and Plate simulations — all include reverb time and level controls. REV-X is a truly classic reverb effect, perfect for bringing a professional sheen to every recording, with a range of presets to create your desired sound quickly.
