Nuendo 11.0.20 now officially supports macOS Big Sur. Also, we have completed our tests on Apple’s new M1 system, and we are happy to announce that Nuendo 11.0.20 officially supports the Rosetta 2 translation layer. Please still make sure that your whole system, including your third-party plug-ins and audio device drivers, support Big Sur and Rosetta 2 in order to avoid instabilities.

EuCon and Track Visibility

There is a new option in the Studio Setup > Remote Devices > EuCon control panel that allows you to apply the channel visibility status of the MixConsole to connected Avid control surfaces. This option only affects EuConized channels that are autoassigned in the EuControl settings.

New scaling options in HiDPI mode on Windows 10

There are new scaling options available for HiDPI mode in Windows 10. In Preferences > General, the application can now be set up with a predefined scaling factor different to the one set in the Windows Display settings. You can increase or decrease (from 25% to 50%) the scaling factor attributed to the application from the one set as default in the Windows Display settings. Please make sure you restart the application to apply the changes.

We have corrected the following features and functionality:

Nuendo 11.0.10 Release Notes

January 27, 2021

Apple Metal support

We have received reports about graphical issues (spinning balls) on systems using AMD Radeon Pro Vega series graphic cards on macOS previous to macOS Big Sur. Apple has fixed the issue with macOS Big Sur. If you don’t want to or cannot update to macOS Big Sur, we have added a new preference, Disable GPU Acceleration in the category User Interface. This will solve the issue on versions of macOS prior to Big Sur. Be aware that selecting the preference will considerably affect the performance of the user interface.

Steinberg Houston Controller

Although the Houston controller is no longer supported by Steinberg and has been removed from the remote list in Nuendo 11, we have re-introduced it as an unsupported device in the list. However, we have not tested it and we cannot guarantee full functionality in Nuendo 11.

We have corrected the following features and functionality:

ADM

The ADM object source track configuration was reset after the Render in Place function was used.

Selecting a bed in an unsupported format (e.g. 5.1.4) as ADM object source track rendered the application unresponsive.

Removing a track that was configured as ADM object could render the application unresponsive.

Selecting the external Dolby Atmos Renderer could render the application unresponsive in certain configurations.

VST MultiPanner Object/Bed Mode remained in an undefined state after an ADM file was exported.

ADM object IDs were not always retained properly when the audio device driver was changed.

Editing

We increased the accuracy of the Set Spacer between Selected Events time to three decimal places.

List Editor did not remember it's last used "Filters" settings.

Constraint Direction key modifier was not working properly when editing Automation data.

MIDI CC Curves were not playing correctly after tempo was changed.

Importing and Exporting

Aborting an Export Audio Mixdown sometimes rendered the application unresponsive.

An exported WAV file contained no tempo information when an Audio Export Mixdown Job Queue was used.

Using the Backup Project function could stall the application for a longer time if the project folder contained a lot of files.

On the Field Recorder Audio Import user interface, the busy indicator didn't work while a search was in progress.

Imported MXF audio files in 32-bit (int.) format sounded distorted.

When importing a Track Archive, some audio files were reported as 'missing', although they were present in the Media folder.

Mix Console

Nuendo did not scroll to the position of the selected track in the MixConsole as expected.

The tooltip about frequency, note, cents, dB was missing when hovering with the mouse inside the Channel Settings window Equalizer area.

Color indication for active Channel Visibility in the Toolbar was not working correctly.

The Link button in the Toolbar did not work as expected.

Plug-ins

The MixerDelay plug-in used in Direct Offline Processing sometimes showed an incorrect number of channels or random characters.

Double-clicking on disabled M/S band did not activate it in Frequency 2

We fixed several issues with regards to parameter reset in Frequency 2.

Some plug-ins with a resizable user interface were not displayed correctly.

The Reset All function (ALT+Reset) of the Frequency 2 plug-in did not reset all parameters.

SuperVision plug-in user interface didn't allow module focus change using the TAB key.

SuperVision Phasescope now has enhanced Auto Zoom for low level signals.

SuperVision caused an unusual processing load on Mac systems.

Imager plug-in latency was not correctly updated when the amount of enabled bands changed.

We fixed an inconsistency in gain reduction display between the Compressor plug-in and the Standard Compressor in the Channel Strip.

The relative parameter link was not working properly for Threshold Up/Down parameters in Squasher.

SMPTE Generator plug-in didn't store or recall the time code offset values correctly.

SMPTE Generator plug-in caused a slight sync inaccuracy at frame rates of 23.98, 24 and 29.97 fps.

Sampler Track

Sampler Tracks were referencing to the wrong audio files.

Sample did not play when it was exchanged while AudioWarp in the Sampler Control tab was active.

Sampler Control settings were reset when a sample was dragged from the project window and dropped to the Sampler Control tab.

Stability

When selected, certain key commands with the Chord Track could render the application unreliable.

Adding a Transpose Track to specific projects could render the application unreliable.

Exporting a MIDI file from projects which were originally created in Cubase AI/Cubase LE/Cubase Elements could render the application unreliable.

Selecting tracks in projects which were originally created in Cubase AI/Cubase LE/Cubase Elements could render the application unreliable.

Loading projects containing automation on frozen and disabled Instrument Tracks could render the application unreliable.

We improved the stability for operating the application with EuCon-based Avid remote surfaces.

Direct Offline Processing

Direct Offline Processing Pitch Shift caused undesired event length changes when Extend Process Range was used.

Direct Offline Processing Pin Process was unpinned when the window was closed.

The waveforms of audio events could disappear at high zoom levels after applying Direct Offline Processing.

Score Editor

In some cases incorrect note heads were displayed in Tablature Mode.

Printing scores could render the application unreliable while a Note Editing Overlay was still open.

When working in Japanese language, some strings were shown truncated at the left side in different parts of the user interface (macOS only).

Miscellaneous

Multi-channel files split by the Convert Tracks or Split Channels function could cause unexpected behavior when configured as ADM objects.

Processing audio using the ARA extension did not work correctly if the media file path contained non-ASCII characters.

Track Quick Controls could not be operated after unfreezing Instrument Track.

For some audio hardware devices, the port names were not properly shown in the Studio Setup on macOS systems.

Macros could not be executed while the Process Tempo window was open.

The color indication for active filters in the Toolbar was not working correctly.

Rating media files in the MediaBay no longer lets entries in the result list disappear afterwards.

Group & FX tracks had missing Track Controls and labels under certain conditions.

Using Live Input in conjunction with the Chord Track, resp. Snap Live Input in the Scale Assistant, created audible gaps while MIDI recording.

The Apply button in the Studio Setup had no effect when attempting to change settings for remote devices, such as CC121.

Control Room related parameters did not respond to incoming MIDI messages in Generic Remote setups.

The compatibility with EuCon-based Avid control surfaces has been improved.

Sampler Tracks can now be shown or hidden as EuConized channels.
