The beauty of tapes

Fractals for Padshop 2 will take your breath away. It is made from sounds recorded on modified cassette tapes complemented by organic percussions and dreamy blended analog synths. The crackles and noises of the tapes make everything sound rich and organic. Fractals concentrates on creating a positive vibe that goes great with lo-fi, ambient soundscapes, downtempo beats or soundtracks.

The idea and team behind Fractals

The main idea was to create a sound set for Padshop which breaks with the concept of dark and scary sounds. It should sound bright and wonderous — but in a Padshop kind of way. Something that comes with a lot of crackle and dirt, but at the same time sounds wonderfully dreamy, abstract and psychedelic. Inspired by artists like Hainbach or Amulets, the Steinberg Sound Designers Jan Neddermann, Matthias Klag and Hanns-Henning Behrendt recorded different instruments on modified tape recorders, blended analog synths and created loops out of rain makers, frame drums, flutes or even sparklers. Combined with the beautiful granular and spectral capabilities of Padshop, Fractals marks an outstanding set of virtuous and avant-garde sounds.
